Highland Breakfast

Kiltearn House

Relax and enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the conservatory, with magnificent views across the Cromarty Firth and gardens. In the colder months, guests are invited to have breakfast in the dining room.

There is the option of a cooked breakfast, where guests  are invited to make their selection the night before using the order sheet so we may prepare for the following morning.

Our Aga cooked porridge is made using a special blend of Scottish ingredients, served just how you like it.

Our bacon and award winning sausages, black pudding and haggis are cooked in the Aga- we do not fry any of our breakfasts. Even our fried eggs are prepared directly on the Aga hob using baco-glide, eliminating the need for frying oil, providing a tastier and healthier option.

If you can resist the tempation of our cooked breakfast, there is a substantial continental buffet where you can help yourself to a selection of items:

Fruit juices
Cereals
Yoghurts
Freshly prepared fruit salad
Cakes or shortbreads
Cheeses and meats (subject to availability)
Preserves

All served with toast and a range of teas and coffee.

If you prefer to have a vegetarian or gluten free breakfast please let us know in advance.
Please tell us if you have any food allergies or intolerance

We promote locally sourced food and seasonal fruit and are very pleased to be able to offer the finest produce from many local producers:

George Cockburn and Son, Mill Street, Dingwall (black pudding, bacon, haggis, pork and beef sausage)
By personally selecting only the finest locally reared beef, lamb and pork as well as the finest local game, Cockburn give their customers the top quality meat that they have now come to expect. While the reputation of produce was well known locally it was in 1976 that they gained national recognition on becoming Scotland's first ever Champion Haggis Makers.

Ullapool bakery (bread, shortbread, oatcakes)
Located on the shores of Loch Broom in the far North West of Scotland, Ullapool Bakery take pride in using stone ground Scottish oatmeal, Scottish butter, rye, wheat and spelt flours to produce a wide range of artisan products - from tangy stem ginger shortbread and chilli cheese oatcakes, to 10 seed sourdough and tomato focaccia. They bake from scratch every day on the premises, using traditional methods.

Cromarty Bakery, Bank Street, Cromarty (bread, pastries)
The Cromarty Bakery has a reputation for first class bread, cakes and pastries, extending well beyond the local area.

Connage Highland Dairy is a traditional family-owned, fully organic business, situated on the family farm at Ardersier, producing a fully traceable quality end product. The organic dairy herd of mostly Holstein Friesian with Jersey crosses and Norwegian Reds graze the luscious clover pastures around the dairy and along the shores of the Moray Firth. The farmers grow their own feed, operate an organic system which puts animal welfare at the top of the agenda, employ local people and are also investigating alternative sources of energy to help the environment.

Black Isle Dairy, Rootfield Farm, Mulbuie (milk)
Black Isle Dairy is a small family-run business, founded by fourth generation dairy farmer Nick Mackenzie. The whole milk from the Dairy is 100% pure and non homogenised which, simply put, means the cream rises to the top and gives the milk a very creamy texture. Milk is from their own Black Isle dairy herd of Holstein, Ayrshire and Jersey cows. The farm has a small honesty shed open to the public, where you can refill your pint glass milk bottles and also purchase cheeses, eggs and ice cream. A pot of ice cream is a must if you happen to be passing by!
