My husband and I stayed at Kiltearn House on 15 October. The room was very cosy and had everything you needed for a good night's rest. We liked the little bottle of fresh milk to make our hot drinks in the room. The breakfast was freshly cooked and it was delicious. The ingredients are all organic and local. We had a good conversation with the owner, who was very helpful and told us a good place to go for dinner and how to get there on foot if we wanted a nice walk. All in all we would highly recommend.

The owner is very nice, we had a warm welcome. We were travelling with my parents, brother and our two children (7 people in total). We used three rooms and all rooms were wonderful. Very clean, a nice shower and coffee, thea in the room. We couldn't find a restaurant for dinner, they were all fully booked. We went to a take away restaurant, the owner made up a table for us so we could eat in Kiltearn house. We were amazed how cosy the dining room was. The next morning we had a lovely breakfast, with enough choices. The only thing we regret is that we couldn't stay longer because we would have loved to explore the surroundings more. It was our best stay in Scotland (of the three other places we stayed). Thank you for the hospitallity, we loved every minute of our stay.

This was our favourite overnight stay during our road trip around the highlands. We felt warmly welcomed by Ed on arrival and our rooms were cosy and inviting.Staying at Kiltearn had such a homely vibe and I loved the lounge area downstairs with so many history books, I could have sat there for hours reading. We took a walk along the loch on our first afternoon and Ed suggested dinner at a gastro pub in Allangrange, where he kindly made a booking for us. Breakfast was plentiful and traditional and accommodated our groups individual preferences. All together this was such a pleasurable experience and we were disappointed that we could only stay for a night. Thank you so much Ed for your kindness and hospitality.x

We stayed for just 1 night on your way up to Orkney. The setting is lovely right on the shore front. The house is a beautiful period property and the hosts friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our 30 min evening walk up to the pub in Evanton village and had very tasty meals. Our family grouo all slept very well. Our cooked breakfast in the morning set us up for our onward journey.

We had a great time at Kiltearn Guest House! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the food is delicious (the local cheese platter was a favourite of ours) and the beach views from the house are stunning. We took a walk around the house in the late afternoon, as recommended, and it was incredibly magical. Anyone wishing to experience the Highlands should book at least a night here!

Business trip up to the Highlands so I arrived late an left early the next day. Impressions were of a well run, welcoming guest house that I would have no hesitation to book again. Beautiful location set in its own grounds and room well laid out for a single female traveling alone. Really liked the touch of having a small self lighting movable mirror for getting ready next morning plus a mini fridge with a mini jug of milk for my tea in the morning. Would highly recommend a stay here and wish I had had longer to stay and enjoy it.

A very nice two-night stay at Kiltearn. Good standard of decor and fittings, very clean and a relaxed atmosphere. A very comprehensive breakfast provided. I should say that the location is excellent, rural yes but close to Evanton, Dingwall and Inverness. Right by Cromarty Firth, with shingle beaches and established walks literally on its doorstep! The honesty box for drinks on the landing is a great idea, and one I haven’t seen before. Very highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kiltearn House. After a long drive we were hoping to relax in a quiet country setting, and Kiltearn House certainly was that. Our host Ed greeted us warmly on arrival, and was most helpful and welcoming. Our room was spacious, with high ceilings and huge windows overlooking the Cromartie Firth. It was well appointed, the king sized bed was comfortable, and the terry cloth robes and the bottle of cream in the mini-fridge were the perfect touches. The garden was lovely and well kept. There's a walking path close at hand, offering a refreshing walk near the shoreline. Our breakfast offered numerous selections and was well prepared, served in a bright sunroom offering views of the garden. Our only regret was that we hadn't booked in for a second night; we tried to rectify that upon arrival, but, of course, they were already fully booked. We will, however, be sure to correct that oversight on our next trip. It's truly a hidden gem. Most highly recommended!

After a long drive from the north country we drove along the Cromarty Firth, rounded a sharp corner and were surprised by joy to see Kiltearn House. A two storey stone house once the Manse of the nearby church it overlooks the water and is surrounded by trees and delightful views. We stayed here for one night but could easily have stayed longer. Thank you.

A very welcoming place to stay. The room was lovely with a large comfortable bed. Spectacular views across the Firth from the room and the added fascination of watching the swifts nesting under the eaves.Breakfast in the conservatory was acceptable although the haggis was a bit dry, with the bonus of watching the birds flitting around the garden. We didn’t make use of the guests sitting room with its “honesty bar†but it looked very comfortable. There was some confusion over our room key being available when we returned after our even meal. We were told that room keys should be left on the desk in the lobby when we went out and collected on our return so that the owners would know that all the guests were back and the building could be secured overnight. An excellent plan, except our key was nowhere to be found! Having searched for someone to ask we ended up ‘phoning the hotel to speak to someone - slightly disconcerting when you can hear the ‘phone ringing in the office upstairs! However, one of the owners appeared with the key, so all was well in the end.

I loved my room as did my couple love theirs. Breakfast was magnificent in the sun room with its views to open fields. My tourists particularly liked the fresh fruits on offer and the cooked breakfast itself. I look forward to returning with new guests next year. Thank You. Bruce Telford.

We received a warm welcome from Ed and Nell in this beautiful Victorian house extremely well refurbished, where we instantly felt like home. The view from our room was superb. The breakfast (especially the eggs, black pudding and haggis) is excellent, as is the bedding. Our only complaint is about the low pressure and the small size of the bathroom. Apart from this very slight inconvenience, we highly recommend Kiltearn house, where we spent three marvellous nights.

My wife and I visited Kiltearn during our honeymoon. We were immediately struck by the beauty of the house and the warm welcome we received from Ed and Nel, the owners. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, the house was laid out with guest convenience in mind, and the included breakfast was enormous and delicious. But the best part of our stay was Ed and Nel. They gave us restaurant and touring recommendations, they came to pick us up from the pub, they even allowed us to throw some of our laundry in with the house's laundry (necessary after 2 weeks of traveling)! We were absolutely blown away by their hospitality and warmth. Our stay at Kiltearn was a highlight of our honeymoon.I would definitely stay at Kiltearn House again, and I will definitely recommend it to anybody I know traveling in the area.

As this was my first visit to Kiltearn House I wasn't sure what to expect. I could not have been happier. First the location is a dream, the house, an old manse, is beautiful and tastefully cared for, and as for the greeting it was faultless. As usual I arrived after hours on a motorcycle and was offered all the help I could have wanted. The room had tastefully modern furniture and fittings and I really wanted for nothing. After freshening up I was given a lift into town for my dinner and offered a lift back when I was ready! Needless to say the breakfast was a treat and taken in the conservatory overlooking the garden. Very nice. Overall very comfortable and friendly with exceptional service.

We used Kiltearn House as a stopover for a short business trip to this highlands area.We really loved the house and would like to live there ourselves! The location is beautiful and peaceful with views across the water and surrounding countryside, ensuring a good night's sleep. The bed and pillows are good quality, rooms are tastefully decorated and all areas are immaculate. The hosts Ed and Nel will provide evening meals on request and we enjoyed our well cooked and presented meal. There is a very nice guest lounge with quality magazines where we relaxed with coffee and fine whisky from the local distillery.Ed and Nel are attentive and friendly but not obtrusive. Breakfast is taken in the conservatory where the lovely views can be admired. The house is surrounded by neat lawns with some seats. The location is good for interesting walks. I think this place would be especially lovely in summer, but delightful in all seasons. We would certainly return to Kiltearn House.

This was our first visit to Kiltearn House, and from the start we were made to feel so welcome by Ed and Nel. Our room, the Superking was a real treat to be in.The decor was lovely, and small touches like fresh flowers just made all the difference. We ate in on both of our evenings at Kiltearn, and Nel's cooking was just superb. A real treat! Breakfast was just as impressive, and our mouths still water just thinking about the food! After our all too short two day stay, we felt we had become part of the family. we can't wait to return!

If you want some luxury with wonderful hospitality then Kiltearn House Hotel is the place for you.Ed and Nel are truly lovely people who treat their guests as if they were part of their family. Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious and the last word in comfort. If we are ever up North again we certainly hope to book in.

My husband and I wanted a few days away from it all and needed some relaxing time to ourselves. The website looked promising and our expections were certainly surpassed.Nell and Ed are lovely people and great hosts.Nell's cooking is first class. We booked only for the first night, but dined in for three out of the four nights we stayed. There are plenty of places to visit, so would definitely recommend staying here to anyone visiting that area.

Ed and Nel were very warm, friendly, and accommodating. I had a lovely stay at the Kiltearn. The view of the water was calming, and the ruined church was also captivating. The breakfasts were delicious, and the room was comfortable.
